Venutian Wetland: viibra
In Venutian Wetland, the flute septet viibra unfolds, through sound and movement, as a self-organising collective of co-existing lifeforms, free from perception and bound to endless transformation in a strange environment beyond earthly reality.
They exist in a fragile symbiosis where the line between individual and whole dissolves, and adaptation is not a choice but a necessity. Invisible flows of matter weave between them—thick, unstoppable—becoming the driving forces that reshape form, function, and being. From these processes, a soundscape arises, more like a living ecosystem than a gathering of beings. viibra was founded in 2016 in support of Björk’s Utopia. The ensemble is best known for its dynamic role in Björk’s acclaimed theatrical concert Cornucopia, performed between 2018 and 2023.
The flute septet explores the possibilities of expanded flute playing. The individual members of viibra are all esteemed performers, composers, and educators, working with improvisation and diverse approaches to music-making. viibra‘s first album was released in 2024.
