The Factory
The Factory is an annual art exhibition held in Djúpavík’s abandoned herring factory. By uniting the vanished past and contemporary art, diverse expressions merge, evoking a space of sensory experiences and artistic diversity.
In 2026, The Factory explores the theme of connectedness. Within this context, site-responsive art will be exposed, approaching Djúpavík's herring factory as a co-creator. What emerges when seizing a location not merely as a shell around the art, but as a creator equal to the artist?
The idea of connectedness also raises questions about its opposites: alienation and disconnection. Thus, the exhibition will encompass worlds of fiction, dreams, heritage, nostalgia, and possible futures.
Opening: 23 May at 21:00
Opening Hours: Daily 10:30–18:00
