Fragrance of Reykjavík Arts Festival: Fischersund
In celebration of Reykjavík Arts Festival, Fischersund presents a fragrance inspired by our thriving city — by everything that grows quietly around us, unseen yet ever-present in the air.
These are the unnoticed companions of daily life: freshly cut grass resting by a fence post, chervil spilling across a sun-warmed sidewalk, a lawnmower shredding dandelions and sorrel, the echo of a distant party, blackcurrants dropping one by one from bare branches.
In a small greenhouse at Lækjartorg, guests are invited to step into Fischersund’s world — to breathe in this invisible landscape and listen to the voices of the urban environment. How does the melodic song of chervil differ from the base notes of birch? How does the bright scent of sorrel contrast with the deeper, woody tones of poplar?
We invite you to visit and experience the city around you with new senses — to see, smell, and listen to Reykjavík anew.

The exhibition takes place mostly outdoors around the Greenhouse on Lækjartorg. The square is paved with stone tiles. The greenhouse is open at selected times; a ramp leads inside, but the interior is small and narrow. There are no public toilets at the site.
There are two designated accessible parking spaces on Pósthússtræti.
