Bridge between cultures

Bountiful programme of Arabian culture granting anyone an opportunity to experience and enjoy diverse cultures through music, dance, cuisine and language. The highlight of the programme is a concert and storytime with the Palestinian drum queen Simona Abdallah. Simona is a percussionist who plays the Arabian drum darbuka, traditionally a male instrument. Simona is one of the first female musicians of Arabian origin to break tradition and has attracted international attention. The evening ends with a dance party until midnight.

Arabian Nights is an informal group of Icelandic, Iraqi, Moroccan and Palestinian artists in Iceland. The project is led by belly dancer Íris Stefanía Skúladóttir and Friðrik Agni Árnason, a Jallabina teacher. On the organizing team are Ikram Zubaydi, Muhammed Naji Ahmed and Saadia Ennaji.
