Reykjavik Arts Festival‘s Privacy Policy

The objective of Reykjavik Arts Festival is to prepare and hold festivals in Reykjavík, where art is to be presented in the fields of music and song, drama and dance, literature, visual art and architecture every other year.

Reykjavík Arts Festival is a legal entity with its own board.

This policy applies to all of the personal data which Reykjavik Arts Festival collects, whether it is gathered and stored electronically or otherwise, such as on paper.

The policy is always accessible on the Festival‘s website www.listahatid.is/en. Every effort has been made to explain the processing of personal data in a simple and concise manner.

This policy is based on Act no. 90/2018 on Data Protection and the Handling of Personal Information.

Liability

Reykjavik Arts Festival bears responsibility for the handling of all personal data, which individuals supply to Reykjavik Arts Festival and undertakes to ensure that the handling of this data complies with the laws in force at any given time.

 

Collection and handling of personal data

Event venues and ticket sales offices collect personal information about individuals when they buy tickets to Reykjavik Arts Festival events and they guarantee the collection of information according to their own privacy policies. 

Individuals can register for Reykjavik Arts Festival’s newsletters and obtain information on various events being hosted by Reykjavik Arts Festival. Customers can request to be removed from these mailing lists at any time.

Reykjavik Arts Festival uses cookies so that the Festival‘s website the www.listahatid.is/en works as it should. Cookies are small packets of data and text files. They are stored in a person's browser or device when browsing web pages. Cookies do not store personal data such as names, email addresses, phone numbers and national ID numbers. Individuals can change their cookie preferences by clicking on settings at the bottom left corner of the website. Individuals can also delete cookies that are saved on their devices.

Cookies in Google analytics are used to gather information on which news and events are read the most and where the individual accessed the website from. This information can be used to display information to individuals, which Reykjavik Arts Festival considers might be of interest to them and to tailor the messages which Reykjavik Arts Festival displays to individuals. Reykjavik Arts Festival does not share any personal data with third party websites.

 

Dissemination of personal information

Reykjavik Arts Festival places an emphasis on ensuring that the handling of personal information is always in accordance with the Data Protection Act and that its security is guaranteed in an appropriate manner. None of the information which individuals provide to Reykjavik Arts Festival is disseminated to anyone but the employees who need to process this data as part of their work. Reykjavik Arts Festival’s staff undertake to maintain full confidentiality regarding any information they handle about individuals and guests at Reykjavik Arts Festival.

Reykjavik Arts Festival undertakes not to sell, rent or share the personal data of individuals.

 

Preservation of data

Reykjavik Arts Festival is obliged to operate in compliance with Public Archives Act no. 77/2014 and is therefore not allowed to delete any files or data it works with, unless with the permission of the National Archives. This obligation means, among other things, that Reykjavik Arts Festival must deliver all of the data which it receives in addition to the data created by the company to the National Archives for preservation.

 

Rights of individuals

Reykjavik Arts Festival places an emphasis on respecting the rights of individuals, who trust the company with their personal data, and in this regard it endeavours to make it easier for individuals to enforce their rights vis-à-vis the company by directing the following inquiries to Reykjavik Arts Festival:

Access rights. Individuals can submit a request for confirmation of whether Reykjavik Arts Festival processes personal data about them and, if so, what the purpose of the processing is.

Right to transfer personal data. Individuals have the right to receive the personal information they have provided to Reykjavik Arts Festival in an accessible readable digital format or, if an individual requests it, for this data to be handed over to another person, whom the individual designates as the recipient.

Right to make corrections or deletions. An individual may request that any personal data regarding them, which Reykjavik Arts Festival does not have a legal obligation to preserve, be changed/deleted.

Children

Reykjavik Arts Festival does not collect the personal data of children under the age of 13 without the approval of their guardians.

 

Amendments to Reykjavik Arts Festival’s personal data protection policy
