Reykjavik Arts Festival will take place 30 May-14 June 2026.

A visual art exhibition of works by German artist Karin Sander in Reykjavík Art Museum - Hafnarhús. The works are in different media, there are no audio or video works. One work uses human hair. Another work was created in a sheep barn and some have been lying in dirt or water for some time before being brought to the exhibition hall. As a result, some of the work may bring smell with them. 
Two works invite visitors to participate. In the large hall next to the multifunctional hall, visitors are invited to step on bricks and become statues for a moment. There will also be an extensive participatory work in Hall A of Hafnarhús where museum visitors are invited to have themselves 3D scanned and printed out in a scale of 1:8. This will be available at selected times during the exhibition and requires registration. Museum visitors who choose to have themselves 3D scanned will sign a consent form from the artist, which will outline how their data will be handled. 
No language skills are required to enjoy the works. Introductory texts will be in both English and Icelandic. In addition, there will be easy access information at selected points at children's eye level. 
There is little sound stimulation from the works in the exhibition. The 3D printer in Hall A makes some sounds when it is running, but it is minimal. The space has traditional museum lighting, it’s bright but the works are illuminated with spotlights. 
The exhibition is suitable for both adults and children. Visitors travel through the exhibition halls at their own pace and can come and go as they please.

Sensory Accessibility Description

Access at Hafnarhús is generally good. The main doors are automatic sliding doors with no thresholds.
An elevator near the museum shop reaches all floors.
There are benches without armrests in several galleries.
A wheelchair is available to loan at the reception.

The accessible toilet is on the left side of the reception by the main entrance.
