Reykjavik Arts Festival will take place 30 May-14 June 2026.

A music event combining sound, scent, video works, and poetry. There is no fixed seating; audience members may either stand or sit in the space. There will be poetry in Icelandic and English. 
The video works resemble moving paintings, with slow, gentle motion and minimal flashing. The musicians perform on stage, playing calm and understated music, although at times the tempo and volume increase.

Scent plays a central role in the event. At the beginning, each guest receives a 5 ml fragrance sample. The host then guides the audience through a shared experience, inviting participants to close their eyes and spray the scent.

Sound levels are moderate, similar to a typical concert, although the music tends to be on the quieter side. There may occasionally be sudden or unexpected sounds. The space is fairly dim, with soft lighting focused on the performers. The fragrances used are non-toxic. The work also contains harmless theater smoke.

The event is suitable for young people, but not young children.

Sensory Accessibility Description

The concert takes place at Austurbæjarbíó. Indoor access is generally good. There are no steps into the building, but there are stairs inside—into the hall, to the seating balcony, and up to the bar on the 2nd floor.

A wheelchair lift serves all staircases except the stairs on the left-hand side when entering the hall. Visitors can operate the lift themselves by pressing the button on the handrail. Staff are available to assist if needed.

The event lasts around one hour, and guests are expected to stand.
There are dedicated wheelchair spaces on the rear balcony. It is also possible to reserve seating/wheelchair placement near the stage.

An accessible toilet is located on the 1st floor, in the lobby, in the left-hand corner next to the bar.
