Fish Factory receives the Eyrarrósin Award

The presentation of the 2025 Eyrarrosin took place yesterday in lovely weather at Alþýðuhúsið in Siglufjörður. This year’s recipient is theFish Factory in Stöðvarfjörður, which now joins a distinguished group of projects recognised over the past 20 years.

Una B. Sigurðardóttir, board member and former CEO of the Fish Factory, accepted the award along with prize money totaling ISK 2,500,000. The award was presented by Björn Skúlason, spouse of the President and patron of Eyrarrósin.

Fish Factory serves as a cultural hub and platform for a wide range of artistic, cultural, and innovative activities. It plays a vital role in enriching cultural life in Stöðvarfjörður and the surrounding area. The center hosts both planned and spontaneous events, enhances access to the arts, encourages local participation, and promotes cultural literacy.

In addition to the main award, the Eyrarrós Incentive Awards were also presented. These awards recognise promising projects with artistic value, strong local impact, and the potential for long-term success. The 2025 recipients are:

  • Gletta, in Borgarfjörður Eystri
  • Afhverju Ekki, in Laugar, Þingeyjarsveit
  • Tankarnir, in Raufarhöfn

Eyrarrósin is a collaborative initiative between the Reykjavík Arts Festival, the Regional Development Agency, and Icelandair.
