Reykjavik Arts Festival will take place 30 May-14 June 2026.

This event is a family festival taking place in the open spaces of Harpa. It is an open, drop‑in event, allowing visitors to come and go as they please. The programme includes stage performances, open art workshops, and stalls run by various mother‑tongue schools and cultural organisations, which visitors can explore at their own pace, chat with exhibitors, and take part in activities. Balloons will be available throughout the venue. At some stalls, visitors can actively participate, sample food, and engage in conversation, while others may simply observe if they prefer.

Part of the festival programme includes scheduled events, such as live music performances. There may also be outdoor concerts around a bonfire.

Sound levels are generally moderate, and the open layout of the space allows visitors to move closer to or further away from speakers as needed. There may be general background noise in the open areas. One part of the music programme features a Rwandan drumming group, whose drums are clearly audible.

The event is particularly well suited to families and children. Visitors are free to move around the space and come and go according to their needs.

The event takes place in open spaces on the 1st and 2nd floors of Harpa.
Automatic sliding doors with no thresholds provide entry.
Three elevators travel directly from the garage to all levels.

Chairs without armrests will be available near stages.
Tables and chairs are available in the open public areas.
All areas provide wheelchair access.

Accessible toilets are available on all floors, with the best access on the basement, 1st, and 2nd floors.

There are 19 designated accessible parking spaces in the underground car park and 2 additional spaces outside on the seaside. To park for free in the car park, visitors must email bilahus@greenparking.is at least 3 hours in advance with name, national ID number of the disabled parking permit holder, license plate, time of arrival and a photo of the permit.
