DAGADANA

2 JUN
20:00
NORÐURLJÓS, HARPA

For the past 15 years, DAGADANA has travelled the world and charmed audiences and critics alike. This joyous and groovy band explores Polish and Ukrainian culture, blending traditional Slavic music with every thinkable genre under the sun.

DAGADANA cherish the value of meeting and exchanging music and art from all over the world – seeing themselves as musical ambassadors, carrying a message of understanding between Poland and Ukraine, neighbouring countries who share a multitude of linguistic and cultural similarities but also differences. Their work has become even more urgent in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The band’s ongoing and omnivorous experiments represent a cause for defiant optimism: music’s ability to surprise, to move and to forge new understandings.

DAGADANA have performed in the Moroccan desert, China’s Forbidden City and at Glastonbury Festival – and now in Reykjavík! DAGADANA’s concert at the festival will be a true cross-cultural meeting with special local guests. The University of Iceland choir will perform, conducted by Gunnsteinn Ólafsson, and langspil player Chris Foster will also play with the band.
