Ummyndlingar - detailed accessibility
Accessibility description
Indoor access at the National Gallery of Iceland is generally good. A push‑button opens the main entrance doors, and there are no interior thresholds.
There is elevator access to all floors, and a platform lift is located by Gallery 3 on the top floor. Guests can operate the platform lift themselves using a button on the handrail.
Benches without armrests are sometimes placed in the galleries, but this varies between exhibitions. Folding chairs may be borrowed at reception.
An accessible toilet is located directly off the reception area on the 1st floor.
A loaner wheelchair is available at the reception desk.
There is one designated accessible parking space on Tjarnargata. From the parking area, visitors may follow Skálholtsstígur, which is somewhat steep. An easier route leads along the path between Fríkirkjan and the museum. It is also permitted to drive the path to the museum entrance by Fríkirkjan to drop off passengers.
