Opening Ceremony 2005
The Opening Ceremony was held at Reykjavik Art Museum on the night May 14th. The Mayor of Reykjavik, Steinunn Valdís Óskarsdóttir, opened the Festival followed by an exciting music program, broadcasted live at the National Broadcast Service Television (RÚV).
The Reykjavik Arts Festival 2005 is for the first time dedicated to contemporary visual arts. To view the visual arts program see below.

Material Time/Work Time/Life Time
The first Reykjavik Art Festival dedicated to visual art was in 2005 and presented an international exhibition that brought attention to Iceland as a site of cultural production.
Over 30 Icelandic and international artists were brought together to respond to the theme of the exhibition. The majority of the artists created new works and this ambitous project saw collaboration of traditional and untraditional venues in Reykjavík and around Iceland.
