Trio Nordica
Trio Nordica was established in 1993. It has played in the US and Europe: Scandinavia, England, France, Italy and Iceland. The members of the Trio Nordica, violinist Auður Hafsteinsdóttir, cellist Bryndís Halla Gylfadóttir and pianist Mona Kontra, play music by famous composers, but also play Icelandic compositions. It specialises in programmes of music by female composers.
The programme will consist of new and old compositions: the premiere of a Piano Trio by Þórður Magnússon, Allegro in D-Major by Sibelius, the Icelandic premiere of a Piano Trio Op.7 in E-Moll by Toivo Kuula, and the Piano Trio no.1 in D-minor by Mendelssohn.
In addition to performing at the Rekyjavik Arts Festival, Trio Nordica will perform this programme in Sweden and Finland, the other two home countries of the trio’;s members.
