Tiger Lillies at Reykjavík Arts Festival
The forefathers of Brechtian Punk Cabaret, the Tiger Lillies, will be in concert at the Icelandic Opera as part of the Reykjavík Arts Festival on 29 May. They were founded in 1989 and, 20 years later, their sound is still unique and original.
The Tiger Lillies stood out immediately for their distinct sound and style and worked their way up from London pubs to the Piccadilly Theatre, and from buskers' benches to the Sidney Opera House. They were soon touring the world and participating in various art and theatre projects. They won an Olivier Award for the cult hit musical Shockheaded Peter and a Grammy nomination for their album The Gorey End. The Tiger Lillies have released 21 albums, participated in numerous shows and toured most of the world, never ceasing to surprise, shock and entertain their audiences with their distinctive and individual musical style.
