SAVE THE DATE - (IN)DEPENDENT PEOPLE
The Reykjavik Arts Festival will focus on the visual arts in 2012. After successful festivals with focus on the visual arts in 2005 (curated by Jessica Morgan) and 2008 (curated by Hans-Ulrich Obrist and Olafur Eliasson), the visual arts focus 2012 will be produced in collaboration between the Reykjavik Arts Festival, the National Gallery of Iceland, the Reykjavík Art Museum, the Living Art Museum, the Nordic House and the Icelandic Art Center. It is called (In)dependent People and will be focused on collaboration and artis initiatives.
Swedish curator and theorist Jonatan Habib Engqvist has been appointed curator of the exhibitions and seminar that will emphasise collaborations and artist-iniatives and take place in Reykjavik in May next year during the Reykjavik Arts Festival.
