ÓLÖF ARNALDS AND SKÚLI SVERRISON OPEN THE FESTIVAL
Iceland‘s most promising rising star Ólöf Arnalds and acclaimed composer and musician Skúli Sverrisson celebrate their fruitful collaboration with a magnetic live performance in Harpa. Performing with Arnalds and Sverrison are Eyvind Kang, Amedeo Pace, Hildur Ingveldardóttir Guðnadóttir, Kjartan Sveinsson, María Huld Markan and Róbert Reynisson. Special guests are Daníel Bjarnason, Matthías Hemstock and Ragnar Kjartansson.
Ólöf Arnalds voice has been called "otherworldly" by The New York Times, "stunning" by SPIN, "bewitching" by Rolling Stone, "remarkable" by the NME, "ethereal" by Vanity Fair and "impossibly lovely" by Paste. Over the past two decades, bass guitarist-composer Skuli Sverrisson has worked with a veritable who's who of the experimental world, from free jazz legends (Wadada Leo Smith, Derek Bailey) to music icons (Lou Reed. Jon Hassel, David Sylvian, Arto Lindsey) and composers (Ryuichi Sakamoto, Johann Johannsson and Hildur Gudnadottir. Sverrisson is also known for his recordings with Blonde Redhead and as a musical director for legendary performance artist Laurie Anderson. Sverrisson released Seria in 2006 and Seria ll in 2010. Sverrisson has been awarded 5 Icelandic Music Awards, including Icelandic Album of the Year for Seria in 2006. Skúli Sverrisson is nominated to the Nordic Council Music Prize in 2011.BUY TICKET
